Paving the Way: A Handbook on the Reception and Integration of Resettled Refugees

The publication provides practical ideas and inspiration for facilitating integration once refugees have arrived in their country of resettlement. It comes as the fruit of an 18-month project that linked European actors from the full spectrum of the refugee resettlement process.

In addition to providing practical information and guidance, Paving the way presents a number of key recommendations to building policies for integration and social cohesion, improving stakeholder planning and cooperation, ensuring that strategic decisions on refugee housing is based on an understanding of his/her needs, and putting in place essential services and support mechanisms prior to embarking on a resettlement programme.

Strengthening the Capacity of and Social Protection for Domestic Workers

Over 70 NGOs and labour groups from 5 continents, including migrant domestic workers, gathered at a conference co-organized by ICMC and hosted by the International Catholic Centre of Geneva on June 3rd and 4th, 2011.

ICMC’s summary report, “Strengthening the Capacity of and Social Protection for Domestic Workers”, includes an overview of current challenges and strategies for the ratification and implementation of the ILO Convention on Domestic Workers, as well as recommendations for states and other relevant actors for next steps.
